DPGC Charity Weekend sponsored by Trading Places raised a staggering £6,756 for 2 very worthwhile charities, The British Heart Foundation and The Genesis Breast Cancer Prevention Appeal.
At the presentation on the evening of Tuesday 25th October, representatives from both charities were presented with cheques for £3,378 each. Mr. Lester Barr, Senior Breast Cancer Consultant at Wythenshawe Hospital, representing The Genesis Appeal said, "The generous amount of monies that have been raised by Davyhulme Park over the years will go towards preventing breast cancer in future generations of women.” Representing The British Heart Foundation, Zuzana Bukovska and Ordia McDonald thanked the club for the generous contribution and said that the money donated will be used to help children with heart conditions.
Many thanks to the Charity Committee for organising and contributing to the weekend’s events; Captain, President, Lady Captain, Andy Howat, John Hatton, Bob Ireland and Stephen Groves.
Stephen Groves, Managing Director of Trading Places estate agents was the main sponsor of the weekend. His very kind donation of £2,350 plus the provision of sporting memorabilia for the charity auction provided a massive boost to the amount raised. Thank you Stephen.
Thanks to all golfers who played in the event on Saturday and Sunday 1st and 2nd of October - you raised a fantastic £1,710 from green fees. A big thank you to Dean Butler who managed the competition.
Many thanks to members and friends who attended the Saturday evening event, bid on the auctions and bought raffle tickets to raise a total of £2,411?on the night.
Thanks to John and Marjorie Dyer, for donating a week at their Spanish Holiday home with car usage. This raised £495! Thanks to all members and friends for donating auction and raffle prizes and thanks to Mavis and Jack Hill and their colleagues for organizing the Tombola, raising £250 and Barbara Sadler for her money management skills. Thanks to Warren Burns for his donation of vouchers and fruit hampers.
