This weekend saw another fantastic turnout for the annual Captain’s Prize 2025 at Davyhulme Park Golf Club, with members braving the mild and wet conditions—especially towards the end—to compete in one of the most anticipated events of the year.
Despite the damp weather, spirits remained high, and the camaraderie on the course was as strong as ever. We'd like to say a huge thank you to all the members who came out and took part across both days. The support, laughter, and competitive edge made it a weekend to remember.
Now to the stars of the show...
1st Place – Paul Barton (Nett 142)
Paul delivered a brilliant performance across the competition to take home first place with a nett score of 142. A well-deserved victory and a great round that showed consistency and focus from start to finish.
2nd Place – Stephen Cooper (Nett 143)
Hot on his heels was Stephen Cooper, finishing just a stroke behind with a nett 143. A strong showing in challenging conditions—congratulations Stephen!
3rd Place – Lee Crier (Nett 144)
In third place, Lee Crier matched a handful of players on 144 nett, but edged ahead on countback. A solid and composed effort. (Apologies from Lee were noted but his performance spoke volumes!)
We’d also like to give special thanks to this year’s Captain, Pete Gaffney, who was with us throughout the weekend. Pete’s efforts at the halfway house, serving much-needed refreshments and keeping morale high, didn’t go unnoticed. Though he wasn’t defending his title on the course, he certainly played a key role in making the event such a success.
